Gomez

Split the Difference

Often considered England’s answer to American jam bands, Gomez couldn’t fool even the most casual Grateful Dead fan. Yet there is something groovy going on throughout the band’s fourth album. From the shuffling “These 3 Sins” to the retro-futurist rock of “Silence,” Gomez’s gentle, rustic psychedelia feels less like a studied space rock exercise and more like a genuine organic outburst. Despite Gomez’s gradual evolution, the group sounds slightly behind the times. But you can’t get much more retro than that.
