More than 2,400 homes in Northbrook lost electricity Wednesday when a power line fell, officials said.
Crews were unable to determine what caused the line to fall in the 100 block of Voltz Road around 12:45 p.m., said Meg Amato, a spokeswoman for Commonwealth Edison.
The power had not been restored by evening, Amato said.
Northbrook does not have a cooling center, so on a day when the temperature hit 86 degrees, ComEd was working with village officials to accommodate residents who needed a place to cool off, Amato said.
