If the parents of a family with three or four children, in a fit of altruism, abruptly decided to adopt six more highly energetic kids with problems of their own, putting a severe strain on the family finances and severely diluting the amount of attention for the original children, that might be a feeble analogy for how I feel about the Iraq situation.
But despite my longstanding opposition to extending the war on terrorism to Iraq, I think–or at least I hope–that the Tribune’s editorials have forced critics like myself to refine their thinking.
I have a grudging admiration for the Tribune’s courage in continuing to defend the invasion.
And I appreciate how the Tribune has given more than ample space to writers who disagree.
