Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

My promise to the readers: Today’s column won’t suffer a rain delay, mainly because my cubicle has a dome.

Cubs fans feel like they saw some pretty good games this weekend. Sox fans feel like the world is out to get them. Pretty much business as usual.

Cubs fly out of town for six games (three at Milwaukee, three at St. Louis), Sox stay in town for six games (three with Anaheim, three with Seattle). My dad used to call this a “cooling off period.”

Finally, let me be the first to say to both the Cubs and the Sox, “Let’s not wait until next year to do this again.”

Here’s the downside of interleague play: Canada’s Blue Jays played the Expos in Puerto Rico in front of 8,831 on Saturday. Wheee!

Big Western Open excitement, huh? Yes, well then, let’s … just … move … on.

Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick at Wimbledon. Damn that Mandy Moore.

And Russian Maria Sharapova winning Wimbledon dashes any plans for her becoming the next Anna Kournikova.

The Bulls calling Kobe Bryant’s agent to gauge his interest in the Bulls is like me calling J.Lo to see if she needs a lap dog. And I weigh 50 pounds. Think about that.

OK, 57 pounds. What’s your point?

Speaking of which, does that Japanese hot dog-eating champion have to split the prize money with the alien living in his stomach?

Update: After publicly complaining about the delay in shipment, Pats QB Tom Brady finally got his Super Bowl MVP Cadillac. I think we’ll all sleep better tonight.

I think Coach K stays at Duke, and here’s why: He enjoys what he does. Everyone keeps talking about the new hardships of the college game, but you don’t hear him crying about it. The guy still tears up saying goodbye to his graduating players.

But if he goes to the Lakers, I bet Kansas coach Bill Self jumps to Duke because he’s done all he came to Kansas to do, and he is ready for a new challenge.

Lon Kruger, I was just kidding.
