Toyota Motor Corp., which ranks fourth in U.S. auto sales, this year may sell more than 2 million cars and trucks for the first time as it closes in on third-ranked Chrysler. Toyota sold more than 1 million vehicles in the U.S. in the first six months of the year, an 11 percent rise over the same period in 2003.
