Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Having read “Unauthorized Loop,” thoughts of days gone by come flooding to mind.

Perhaps others who are as ancient of days as I am may remember places like the Mayflower Doughnut Shop or the popular date destination, the House of Cohasset Punch, where one was served a luscious pink and potent beverage poured over a half a peach.

Although not gourmet fare by today’s standards, one could always look forward to a delicious hot beef sandwich at the State Street dime store.

In that same store, one could choose sheet music and ask for it to be played by the resident pianist before the purchase was made.

All of the trips downtown were much anticipated because of the streetcar ride and the adventure of going through the dark tunnel under the Chicago River.

Who can forget the moaning shrieks from the wheels of the car as it slowly accomplished its ascent from the tunnel?

Thanks for bringing back some golden memories.
