Fred Pinkard, age 84, of Los Angeles, CA, formerly of Chicago, New York and Minneapolis-St. Paul. U.S. Navy Vet. WWII. Loving father of Douglas Pinkard of New York and Rita Pinkard of Flossmoor, IL; grandfather of Dante and Grace. Member of Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity and the American Federation of Theatre and Radio Artists. Mr. Pinkard began his professional career as a radio actor in Chicago. His stage work included The New York Shakespeare Festival, The American Conservatory Theatre, The Tyrone Guthrie Theatre, The Los Angeles Actors Theatre, The Old Globe at San Diego, The Denver Center Theatre Company, The Arizona State Theatre Company and the Mark Taper Forum at the Los Angeles Music Center. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 1970, he broadened his professional focus to include countless roles in films and television, with credits on such shows as the Mod Squad, The Bill Cosby Show, Good Times, Seinfeld, Mad About You, ER, NYPD Blue, and Without A Trace, as well as roles in the films Roots, Splash, Scott Joplin, Grumbling’s White Tiger, Eleanor and Franklin, and J.D.’s Revenge, and others. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Mr. Pinkard also toured the country in several one-man shows of his own authorship, among them: Lift Every Voice, Rehearsal for the Gods, and Mr. Marshall-Justice, for which he was recognized by the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP.
