A convicted murderer on parole is being held without bail after a man he allegedly shot in April died late last month.
Lamont Griffin appeared at the Cook County Criminal Courts Building on Monday to face an upgraded charge of murder in the slaying of Cedric Nailing, his girlfriend’s father, who was shot April 5.
Circuit Judge Matthew Coghlan revoked the $850,000 bail set shortly after the shooting.
Griffin, of the 5400 block of South Seeley Avenue, was accused of shooting Nailing after Nailing got between him and his girlfriend during a quarrel in the 2700 block of South State Street.
Illinois Department of Corrections records show Griffin was paroled in May 2003 after serving part of a 20-year sentence for murder.
His next court date is Aug. 26.
