I found the initiative by the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority to cut the speed limit near the toll plazas most amusing (“Speed limit is cut near toll plazas; Safety issues led to 45-m.p.h. rule,” Metro, Aug. 4).

First, most of the time approaching toll plazas is done at a crawl, well below 45 miles per hour.

Second, who exactly is going to be issuing these tickets with the heavy fines attached? The only time law enforcement is visible on the tollway is after an accident has already happened or while waiting near a toll plaza to catch someone who did not pay.
