I am continually amazed at the new forms of mindlessness that are demonstrated by people in the television industry.
Most of us have known since childhood that hurricanes are violent storms that produce high winds and heavy rainfall. Why then is it necessary for news and weather stations broadcasting stories from Florida to have reporters standing in the middle of these storms to tell us what we already know? I would think that the horizontal palm trees, detached roofs and flying stop signs would be evidence enough of a storm’s fury. Those in the industry, however, evidently think that only if we see a human doing all he can to keep from being drowned or blown away will we know what a hurricane can do.
This isn’t journalism–it’s sensationalism bordering on stupidity.
