Columnist Leonard Pitts is among the most insightful, varied and balanced commentators writing today. I read several newspapers each day, and he stands head and shoulders above the majority of the commentators published in the press. Most allow their narrow, personal viewpoints to dominate their writings to such an extent that they produce very little reading enjoyment and even less insight into issues that are important to us all. Pitts has earned my respect and praise.
