Peter J. Kessel, of Morton Grove, passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2004, at the age of 85. Born June 27, 1919 in Chicago to the late Joseph and Anna. A man of many interests who enjoyed life, Pete had a great appreciation of artwork, bronzes and antique guns. He loved his family and was a caring and generous husband to the late Elizabeth, nee Schissler; and father to the late John and Thomas. He is survived by his loving grandsons Joseph and Matthew (Heather); his adoring great-grandchildren Elizabeth Aubrey, Caitlyn and John; and his dear sisters Liz, Josie, Marie and Anne. His family wishes to express their appreciation for all the assistance given Pete in recent years by his many friends, especially the Staackmann and LaCroix families, his neighbor Ursula Dworak and the caring staffs of the 6th and 12th floors of Lutheran General Hospital and Bethany Terrace Nursing Home. Funeral service Monday 11 a.m. at Simkins Funeral Home, 6251 Dempster St., Morton Grove. Interment will be private. Visitation Sunday 2 to 8 p.m. 847-965-2500.
