A Volo man was killed and a passenger in his car was critically injured in an accident near Wauconda Monday, authorities said.
Jessy Wilson, 22, was driving north on Fisher Road about 11:30 p.m. when his car went off the road a half-mile south of Illinois Highway 120. The car hit a tree broadside on the east side of the road, throwing Wilson from the vehicle and killing him, Lake County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christopher Thompson said.
Justine Rhode, 20, of Island Lake was flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She was in critical condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The impact nearly split the car in half, Thompson said.
