I read with horror Wayne Pacelle’s “Illinois’ pheasant hunt a cruel, expensive waste” (Commentary, Nov. 3). I grew up in the country and have no objection to people who hunt, but catching and blasting defenseless animals is barbaric and definitely not sporting.
We are failing miserably as caretakers of this planet. These beautiful creatures deserve better than this.
Shame on us!
