– The Navy has put off until at least this month a decision on the contract to replace the aging Marine One presidential helicopter fleet. Connecticut-based Sikorsky Aircraft and Maryland-based Lockheed Martin Corp. are vying for the $1.6 billion contract.

– Steve Fossett and Terry Delore have set a gliding record, flying their ASH 25M sailplane between the Argentine cities El Calafate and San Juan. That’s a straight-line world record of 1,358 miles. The flight took 15 hours 42 minutes and covered roughly the distance between Chicago to West Palm Beach, Fla.
