You know that godaddy.com ad that was the talk of Sunday’s Super Bowl? Well, another airing of the ad, scheduled for the fourth quarter, was punted by Fox execs.
The spot featured a woman suffering a near wardrobe malfunction and was intended to mock the debate that has raged since last year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
“We worked hard to make sure we didn’t cross the line,” Paul Cappelli, chief executive of the Ad Store, told The New York Times, “but we poked fun at censorship, and guess what? We were censored. It’s kind of scary.”
A Fox exec said that after the spot ran the first time, “it became obvious to us that its content was very much out of step with the tenor set by the other ads … so Fox made the decision to drop its repeat airing.”
