1. This is real thin
Josh Smith went retro in winning the slam dunk contest and afterward was seen spooling pasta with Twiggy.
2. Bag boys
Love the first day of Spring Training. There’s nothing like non-stop video of Major League Baseball players carrying their own luggage.
3. Just saying
Good thing that the NHL season is staying canceled. The Blackhawks had already put Bill Wirtz and Bob Pulford back in mothballs.
4. Piling on
The Hawks organization reminds me of the old house in my neighborhood that all the kids were always afraid to go near.
5. Hard to believe
Watched my first Daytona 500 and was amazed to learn that, yes, it’s just cars going around a track over and over again. I can see why it’s so popular.
6. Spring fling
Now that Spring Training has started, please don’t get excited about the 27-year-old non-roster invitee who hits safely in three straight games. You’re smarter than that.
7. Give a hoop
Thank goodness the NBA All-Star weekend is over. Honestly, I just don’t have the energy.
8. So confusing
Jose Canseco earned over $45 million during his career. Jose Canseco is auctioning off his memorabilia. I just can’t reconcile those two sentences.
9. Seven months to go
Was your first Sunday (OK, second) in five months without NFL football just awful? Yes, that was a rhetorical question.

FIVE THINGS…
… I like about Spring Training:
– The crowds are made up almost entirely of prisoners.
– The Cactus League All-Star game in mid-March.
– Experimenting with new rules. This year? Wiffle balls.
– Great appetizers. I’m partial to the fried mushrooms.
– Generous ballplayers. All autographs are half-off.
