June H. Roberts, nee Hoover, age 81, of South Holland, formerly of Homewood for nearly 50 years, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in Palo Alto, Ca., after a 9 year battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Harry V. Roberts, University of Chicago professor; loving mother of Andrew (Celine Morisset) of Gatineau, Qc. and Mary D. (David Beaudry) of Palo Alto; adored grandmother of Vincent, Veronique, Alexander, Benjamin and Connor. Private services will be held for the immediate family. In addition to the love given to June by her family and friends, she found much joy from music, nature, and reading to help “meet whatever comes with fortitude, patience, and joy.” Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer research, the Homewood Public Library, the Izaak Walton League of Homewood, Thorn Creek Woods, Music of the Baroque, or to any organization that will help children learn to love music, nature and reading. Or perhaps plant some flowers for others to enjoy.
