Peter Kunatz, passed away in Lawrenceville, GA on Feb. 21, 2005. He was 86. Peter, son of Alex and Sophia Kunatz, was born June 27, 1918, grew up in Chicago, IL, studied at the Chicago Conservatory of Music and served in the United States Army Air Force. After discharging from the service he went on to pursue his interest in music and became an accomplished and recognized musician under the stage name of “Peter Kaye”. In 1946 he married Edith Zaiger. They were married for nearly 60 years. In 1949 Peter joined a group of musicians by the name of Captain Stubby and the Buccaneers and with them played on WLS’ National Barn Dance, WBKB-TV Chicago “Beat the Buccs” and PolkaGo-Round. Peter’s first and foremost love was for his family and the many memorable vacations and leisure times he was able to spend with them such as golfing, swimming and boating. Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Edith; daughters and spouses Peggy and Tom Woodruff, Joyce and David Rosenfeld; cherished grandchildren, Chris Woodruff, Trisha Tiller, Shauna Woodruff and David Odey; great-grandchildren Jaden Tiller, Jamison Tiller, CJ Woodruff and Ty Woodruff; beloved sister Sonia Estelle and brother Fred Kunatz. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Buford First United Methodist Church, 285 East Main St., Buford, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410.
