While watching “60 Minutes” and the segment about artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, I watched with somewhat bemused and skeptical interest. Before I knew it, I realized I was smiling broadly throughout the coverage.

What a whimsical inspiration–a capricious genius.

In these days of chaos, confusion and turmoil, what a delightfully delicious feast they offered us. No burdensome undertones, no devious intent–just pure fantasy.

I recently overheard someone say about the saffron gates that “we could have hired kids to TP the trees.”

Not the same, my friend; not by a long shot. I, for one, would love to live in Christo’s and Jeanne-Claude’s heads, for even just a day. What a playful joy that would be.
