EVENT OF THE WEEK
Forum pursues patient safety
“Creating Safer Health Care in Chicago” is the theme of the Chicago Patient Safety Forum, an independent program of The Institute of Medicine of Chicago.
The conference for local health professionals, consumers, purchasers and safety researchers will examine the Chicago region’s progress in improving patient safety. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Feinberg Pavilion Conference Center, 251 E. Huron St., third floor.
Gary A. Mecklenburg, president and CEO of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, will deliver the keynote address. He will provide an overview of what governmental and private organizations are doing to improve quality and patient safety, and how individual hospitals and providers are involved.
Workshops at the daylong event will cover patient-centered care, health-care information technology, and safety reporting systems. There will also be a panel discussion on full disclosure and apology for medical errors.
The cost is $25 for students and $75 for others. To register, go to www.chicagopatientsafety.org.
