– Broadcast networks CBS, NBC and ABC will devote their usual Sunday morning news programs to coverage of the death of Pope John Paul II. A particularly notable guest was snagged by ABC: “This Week” at 9:30 a.m. will feature an interview with Cardinal Bernard Law, the former archbishop of Boston who was much criticized over the priest sex abuse scandal. NBC’s “Today” show features Matt Lauer and Katie Couric in Rome.
– CBS’ “60 Minutes” will examine the process for choosing the next pope.
– The cable news channels–CNN, Fox News and MSNBC–will carry extensive coverage all day. CNN’s top offerings include a “People in the News” documentary from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a “Larry King Live” special following that. Fox’s coverage will feature Shepard Smith in Rome.
