William D. O’Neill, age 71, of Vandalia, MI, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in Mishawaka, IN. He was born Oct. 23, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Daniel O’Neill (deceased) and Mary Ellen McGrath. He married Maryann Mulqueen on June 24, 1961 in Chicago, IL. Survivors include his wife; two sons Patrick J. (Lezli) O’Neill of Milwaukee, WI and Michael W. (Laura) O’Neill of Elkhart, IN, and one daughter Erin M. (Philip) O’Neill-Bentkowski of Lansing, IL; six grandchildren; one sister Mary T. (W.E.) Coon of Leawood, KS. Calling will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home & Crematory, 700 E. Jackson, Elkhart, IN. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at St. Linus Catholic Church, 10300 S. Lawler, Oak Lawn, IL. Burial will be at a later date in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth, IL. William was employed for over 40 years as an electrician with Local #134 in Chicago. He retired in 1995. Bill and Maryann moved from Chicago to Birch Lake, in Vandalia, MI in 1999. He was a member of Elks Lodge #425 in Elkhart. Member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Three Rivers, MI. He enjoyed reading, watching sports on television, boating and fishing. He coached football and little league baseball. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Korea. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.
