State officials are investigating allegations of abuse of a 19-month-old girl Sunday after authorities discovered her with bruises in a home on the Southwest Side, officials said. The discovery came while investigators were looking into the death of a 6-month-old girl at the same home.

Police are investigating along with the Department of Children and Family Services after authorities found scratches on the girl’s neck and possible bruises on her back Sunday at the home in the 8500 block of South Keating Avenue, police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor said. The girl was taken Sunday to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

DCFS decided not to pursue its investigation into the death of the 6-month-old, who died Friday, DCFS spokeswoman Kim Broome said. The family had no contact with DCFS before her death, Broome said. The cause of her death has not been determined yet, a Cook County medical examiner spokesman said Sunday.
