Congratulations are in order to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger on becoming Pope Benedict XVI. While he faces many new challenges with his new position, I would argue that there is nothing more important than reaching out to those of different faiths to find common ground. Analysis of most of the world’s geopolitical problems can be traced to tensions between religions. Being the pope brings a huge microphone with it. I hope that Pope Benedict XVI uses it to advance new cooperation between religions.
