Celiann Uhl, nee Rose, age 81, passed away at St. James Hospital April 18, 2005. She is preceded in death by her dear husband George A. Uhl (1988). Celiann was born in Chicago and resided in Markham from 1948 to 1975, then Crete from 1975 until the time of her passing. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Michael’s High School. Before her retirement in the fall of 1988, she was a proofreader and theater reviewer for Star Publications. Celiann was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, St. Ann Church of Chicago Heights; Council of Catholic Women of St. Liborius Church; Crete Women’s Club, past member of St. Gerardian Guild, St. Gerard Church in Markham; past member of St. Gerard Majella school board, past president of Skyline Homemakers, acted as publicity person for many of these organizations, and was named Woman of the Year by the council of Catholic Women. She was very active at St. Liborius parish by volunteering to answer phones and writing and proofreading bulletin items at the rectory. She will be missed by many. Celiann was a beloved mother to daughters Mary, Roseanne (the late George) Adams, Adrienne, Susan and her sons George, Christopher (Barb), David, Jonathan, Timothy (Diane); and a loving sister to Marie (the late Robert) Graham, Lillian (Richard) Jensen and Paul (Marge) Rose; dearest grandmother to Christopher Uhl, Kevin Meneou, Matthew Adams, Gregory Adams, Elizabeth Uhl, Melissa Uhl, Sarah Uhl, Laura Uhl, Kenneth Uhl and Rachel Uhl. She was preceded in death by a son George Joseph (1951) and sister Catherine (the late William) Schorr and brothers William (Kay) Rose, Joseph (Betty) Rose, George (the late Kay) Rose, Hubert (Pat) Rose and Henry Rose. A visitaiton will be held at Hirsch Spindler-Koelling Chapel, 507 Exchange St., Crete, on Thursday, April 21, from 2 until 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Liborius Church, Steger, on Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. Her interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Steger.
