We’ve heard plenty of tips for affordable facelifts for kitchen cabinets — painting cabinets, changing door pulls, refacing — but Kelly Keener of DIY Network’s “Material Girls” shared a new one:

“One way to give your kitchen cabinets new life is the addition of glass. Most cabinetry has a center section that is removable. This project can be done by a do-it-yourselfer or a professional by drilling a hole large enough to allow space for a jigsaw blade to cut out [this center section]. Even if you only cut out a corner cabinet, adding a light, you can totally open up your kitchen. I personally did this and got instant gratification.”
