Having seen and heard all the coverage of the Bears’ quarterback choices, I believe Kurt Kittner is not being given a fair chance by the Chicago media or Bears management and coaches.
Having known Kittner as a student-athlete at Schaumburg High School where I taught and announced football, I know he is a winner, highly self-motivated and self-disciplined, intelligent, very focused, and mentally and physically tough. More important, Kittner led Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner’s Illinois teams for three years, once to the Sugar Bowl. So Kittner knows Turner’s offense better than any of the other QB candidates.
Kittner also was the MVP in NFL Europe’s World Bowl this summer and has thrown excellent passes and shown strong leadership in the Bears’ exhibition games.
