Frances Bean Cobain had a pretty simple message in her first magazine interview: I’m not Courtney Love.
Cobain, the daughter of Love and Kurt Cobain, tells Teen Vogue: “I don’t want to be titled as Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain’s daughter. I want to be thought of as Frances Cobain.”
Her mother temporarily lost custody of her while fighting a number of legal battles and recently revealed she had relapsed into drug abuse. “She tells me to ‘live free and be free, but listen to other people’s advice,’ ” Frances says in excerpts on people.com.
But the interview wasn’t all dysfunction–Frances talked fashion too. Her favorite outfit: “a pretty skirt or nice jeans … something that matches or coordinates.”
