In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, columnist Dennis Byrne cautions us to not assign blame (“Why do we always assign blame?” Commentary, Sept. 5). Fair enough. Let’s not point fingers. The plain truth, however, is that our system failed. And this, with a four-day warning. What will happen in the event of a terrorist attack? We must demand accountability.
