– Mike Tyson opened a boxing tournament in Chechnya, becoming the first international celebrity to visit the war-ravaged Russian republic. Tyson traveled Thursday to the city of Gudermes as a guest of honor at the tournament, held in memory of assassinated Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov.
– Actress Angelina Jolie is the new face of luxury apparel label St. John. Jolie also will be the voice behind the company’s new charity for children’s issues, St. John announced Thursday.
– Mindy McCready was freed from jail Wednesday on $50,000 bond on a charge of probation violation. She must stay within 50 miles of Williamson County, Tenn., and meet with a probation officer twice a week. McCready had been jailed since Aug. 26.
