– The new-look INXS–featuring a new lead singer, J.D. Fortune — will roll through town Feb. 4 for a one-night performance at the Chicago Theatre as part of the “Switched On” tour. Tickets go on sale Oct. 15.
– The White Stripes will perform on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Dec. 1. This will be the first time a band has ever performed on “The Daily Show.” “We’ve never had a musical performance on the show before–not because we haven’t wanted one–but because we were holding out for a reunited Spandau Ballet. This will have to suffice,” Stewart joked.
– Anthony Hopkins will star as Ernest Hemingway in “Papa,” to be directed by Roger Donaldson. Donaldson said the film will be based on Hemingway’s encounter with America’s youngest war correspondent in the Korean War, who was inspired by how Hemingway reported on the Spanish Civil War.
– ABC will stay in the late-night talk game for at least another year. “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” which has experienced a ratings bump of late, has been picked up through 2006.
