The Green Gauge study by market research group Gfk NOP identifies the price per gallon thresholds at which Americans say they will alter their lifestyles to save on gas. Alternatives include carpooling; using public transportation; walking, biking or using other forms of transportation; reducing overall driving, using their most fuel efficient vehicle; and buying a more fuel efficient vehicle. The study surveyed 2,000 adults ages 18 and up using in-person, in-home interviews. All participants included in the study owned one or more vehicles.
