Joliet Catholic suffered a St. Charles East tournament championship game sweep at the hands of Incarnate Word, the St. Louis powerhouse ranked sixth in the nation Saturday.
But along the way, the No. 4 Angels (24-3) claimed a 25-20, 21-25, 25-12 semifinal victory over No. 7 Naperville Central.
“It seemed like everything was on in that game,” said outside hitter Kelly Murphy, who had a game-high 22 kills against the Redhawks. “It was a really strong match to play in.”
The Redhawks (24-2) rebounded to claim third in a 25-17, 27-25 sweep of Belleville Althoff.
