Three shootings and a stabbing left four people dead on the South and Southwest Sides over the weekend, according to Chicago police.
No arrests had been made by Sunday evening.
A tip led police to the body of Geraldine Gist, 37, of the 1700 block of West 71st Street about 2:45 p.m. Saturday in a house in the 7100 block of South Hermitage Avenue, according to police spokeswoman Patrice Harper.
“She was discovered in a bedroom of an abandoned building with a gunshot wound to the head,” Harper said.
A neighbor who lives near the house told police about the body, Harper said.
Later Saturday, Robert Griffin, 22, of the 1700 block of East 69th Street was fatally shot about 9:45 p.m. in the hallway of a building in the 6800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, Harper said.
Harper said two men approached Griffin in the hallway, and one shot him.
The third shooting happened about 1:40 a.m. Sunday in the 6200 block of South Talman Avenue, where two men approached a house to find three men drinking on the front porch, police said.
After a quarrel, one of the three men fired a handgun and killed Rafael Trujillo Jr., 28, of the 8000 block of South Lavergne Avenue in Burbank, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A 38-year-old man with Trujillo was also shot and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was in critical condition Sunday afternoon, according to police spokesman John Mirabelli.
The three men fled north on Talman in a sport-utility vehicle, Mirabelli said.
A domestic dispute in the 400 block of East 111th Place ended in the stabbing death of a man about 8:15 a.m. Sunday, according to Mirabelli.
The medical examiner’s office identified him as Alvin Freeman, 36, of the same address.
