For one night, at least, Common was on Kanye West’s tour after all.
Just after announcing he was taking a movie role that would keep him from opening for producer and fellow Chicago rapper West, Common surprised fans in Miami by popping up on stage Tuesday night for the opening show.
The crowd at the University of Miami Convocation Center exploded when Common joined Kanye for “Get Em High,” mtv.com reports. “I couldn’t miss Miami. I gotta see if Miami is ready to go,” Common said before launching into his hit “Go!”
Backstage, Common said he is still off the tour but plans to make occasional appearances when he can get away from filming. No word if that includes Kanye’s Oct. 19 date in Champaign or his Nov. 14 date at UIC Pavilion (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text).
HIT PARADE: Eminem announced a few of the tracks that he’ll include on his upcoming greatest hits album “Curtain Call.” The disc, due out Dec. 6, will include “My Name Is,” “The Way I Am,” “Lose Yourself” and “Stan,” Interscope Records announced Tuesday. It also will include “at least two” new tracks. Meanwhile, the rapper has left rehab after checking into a Detroit-area hospital to treat a pill addiction, the Detroit Free Press reports.
HIDDEN KEYS: “Unbreakable” is proving to be another hit for Alicia Keys, but the song spent about two years in her vault before she decided to record it. “Unbreakable,” which is on her just-released “Unplugged” album, was intended for 2003’s “The Diary of Alicia Keys.”
BABY ON BOARD: Woody Harrelson, who plays a father of 10 in the new movie “The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio,” says he and his wife, Laura Louie, are expecting in real life. “The wife is preggers … and we’ve narrowed it down to me,” he told David Letterman in an interview Tuesday.
REEL NEWS: Craig. Daniel Craig? The British actor is said to be the favorite to replace Pierce Brosnan in the next James Bond film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sony Pictures wouldn’t comment on the rumors. Elsewhere, “A Beautiful Mind” muse Jennifer Connelly is in talks to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the drama “Blood Diamond.”
