State Sen. Peter Roskam raked in almost $300,000 more in campaign contributions during the last three months to fuel his effort to succeed U.S. Rep. Henry Hyde in the west suburban 6th Congressional District, according to the latest Federal Election Commission report.
As of Sept. 30, Roskam, a Wheaton Republican, had raised $681,451 for the 2006 election and has $549,997 in cash on hand. Roskam is the lone Republican running in a district long dominated by the GOP. Hyde announced in April that he would not seek re-election.
Christine Cegelis, a Rolling Meadows software engineer who ran against Hyde last year, has raised $159,884 for the campaign but has only $48,972 in cash available. Wheaton College professor Lindy Scott, who joined the race in August, has raised $21,509 and has $16,986 in cash.
