Victor Davis Hanson’s Oct. 7 column was regarding the elitism of liberals. As a member of “liberal” groups, I often possess an uncomfortable agreement with Hanson’s viewpoint regarding liberal insensitivity and elitism.
At the same time, I might remind him that the conservatives in power are hardly known for listening to other viewpoints–whether it be on the Iraq war, the environment or American history.
Some of us on the left are sincerely interested in building bridges of dialog with people holding different viewpoints from our own.
In fact, we are trying to cease thinking in term of left-right, conservative-liberal.
