In addition to serenading the nation’s capitol with “Vertigo” and other hits at a concert at D.C.’s MCI Center, U2’s Bono got invited to lunch with President Bush on Wednesday. We can only imagine how the conversation between the Irish rocker and the commander-in-chief went. Maybe something like this.
TOPIC: The Nobel Peace Prize
Bono: I can’t believe I lost.
Bush: Yeah, I know the feeling. What do we have to do to get a little recognition around here?
TOPIC: Selling out
Bono: I’m sick of people saying that the band has lost its edge.
Bush: Sure. People love you one day and criticize you the next.
Bono: I mean, have any of these haters ever won a Grammy?
Bush: Preach, brother. Preaaaaaaaaach.
TOPIC: Celebrity gossip
Bush: So did you see that Katie Holmes is pregnant with Tom Cruise’s kid?
Bono: Naw, man. I think the mailman is stealing my copies of US Weekly.
Bush: We can have the CIA look into that if you want.
Bono: Brilliant.
