The Wolves grabbed an early second-period lead and never looked back, overpowering the San Antonio Rampage 5-2 Wednesday night at the SBC Center.

The Wolves scored five goals for the second straight game after being held to five goals all told in their previous four games.

Left wing Brian Maloney led the charge with a short-handed goal and an assist. Defenseman Travis Roche added his first goal of the season and an assist.

Right wing Justin Morrison’s first goal as a member of the team was the game-winner, giving the Wolves a 3-1 lead early in the third period.

Wolves goalie Gregg Naumenko, a Chicago native, recorded 22 saves on 24 shots in his first AHL victory since the 2001-02 season.
