12:20 p.m.: I felt like a bum waking up this morning at 11 a.m., but, my God, what a game last night! Just when I thought that nothing could be longer than my Chicago Marathon time of 4 hours 52 minutes this year (which I am extremely embarrassed about), the first World Series game I witness eclipses 5 hours 40 minutes.
6:55 p.m.: Chants of “Let’s go White Sox!” throughout Home Plate Bar and Grill.
7:12 p.m.: Back in the ballpark and making the way up the mile-long stairs. I’m out of breath. Trying to buy programs, but they are out of bags and I don’t want to get the programs dirty. At least the bathroom lines are short.
7:54 p.m.: A lot more Sox fans here tonight. But once again the Sox faithful are drowned out when Astros fans roar after Paul Konerko’s groundout in the first.
8:22 p.m.: Houston fans irate to see a leadoff double go to waste in the bottom of the second.
8:49 p.m.: Cannot believe Brandon Backe struck out Konerko, A.J. Pierzynski and Aaron Rowand in order after Jermaine Dye’s hit. Houston fans on a high. Not good.
9:39 p.m.: Bases loaded two outs … all the fans on their feet. Freddy Garcia vs. Jason Lane. Who will be the hero in this sixth-inning showdown?
9:42 p.m.: He gone!
9:57 p.m.: Place erupts after Juan Uribe whiffs with runners on second and third.
10:18 p.m.: Dye comes up HUGE! Sox fans cheering throughout the upper deck–“Let’s go White Sox!”
10:41 p.m.: Hundreds of fans heading toward the exit.
11:04 p.m.: Dad and grandpa, I know you guys are proud. What a special moment. This stadium is soooo quiet!
