When officials dedicate Bridgeview’s newly expanded library Sunday, they will also celebrate the memory of a former library trustee who was instrumental in its growth for more than three decades.

A plaque dedicating the library to Stephanie Cichowski, who died a few years ago, will be placed in the building’s foyer at 7840 W. 79th St.

“She was our longest-serving Library Board member ever, having served on the board for more than 30 years,” said library Director Jane Schoen.

The $5.2 million, 19,000-square-foot expansion more than doubles the facility, creating additional room for books, computer stations and learning areas for children and adults.

Mayor Steven Landek and Village Board members are scheduled to join library trustees and others at the 2:30 p.m. dedication.
