Raymond A. Hylander, 83, of East Dundee and formerly of Barrington. Beloved husband of Lenora Hylander, nee Wigner, for 56 1/2 years; loving father of Ruth (Richard) Groth and Jane (Art) Laystrom; proud grandfather of Julia, Margaret and Artie. Ray was the youngest to ten children born to Olga and Edward Hylander who lived in the Roseland community on Chicago’s South side. The hallmarks of his life were faith, family, education and travel. He served in the Army during WWII as a Master Sergeant in the European Theater. He was a member of the Crystal, Lake, Illinois American Legion Post 171. Ray was a member of the original faculty of Harper College when it was formed in 1967. He was a guidance counselor in the Business Division until his retirement in 1983. He was a past president of the Illinois Guidance and Personnel Association from 1967-1968. Ray was a member of the Community Church of Barrington and recently attended Willow Creek Community Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 9, 4 p.m., in the chapel at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 E. Algonquin Rd., South Barrington, IL 60010. Entombment Windridge Memorial Park.
