Welcome to Tempo Holiday Central, where creative vision collides with real life. Senior correspondent Ellen Warren kicks off our season with her tale of high hopes: Donate to a worthy cause and take home a cute Christmas photo.
A fan was going full blast at his feet but Santa was still sweating like a chimp. And the holiday spirit? Let’s just say it was frayed.
This was the annual pet photo-with-Santa fundraiser for the local animal welfare group and we were the final customers of the day at a bank on the town square in Howe, Ind.
Santa Claus was close to the boiling point when we presented him with Jelly Roll, the squirming Norwich terrier, and Dash, the blind PBGV hound covered in sticky burrs. After a five-minute wrestling match, it was obvious that Santa couldn’t handle both unwilling dogs in a single picture.
The results, shown here, are a chokehold on Jelly Roll and a profile of resigned submission from Dash. And that look in Santa’s eyes? It wasn’t ho-ho-ho.
Has your Christmas tree toppled over, did your flaming egg nog recipe set the kitchen curtains ablaze? Tell us, show us your holiday schemes gone wrong — we’ll print the best stories and photos.
