I am taking exception to some of the wording in your lead Nov. 26 editorial “GM by the numbers.” I object to a word in “[GM] is saddled with the costs of health and pension benefits for workers and its growing army of retirees,” as a reason that GM is in trouble. The “saddled” word has a very negative connotation.

Your choice of words makes it sound as if the workers have gotten too much and are not entitled to these benefits, and that because GM has been in business for so long and has many retirees, these costs should somehow have been lessened to give GM more competitive advantage.
