Sherman Dickholtz of Evanston/Skokie and Las Vegas, age 80, WWII paratrooper and combat veteran, Senior Counselor of the Illinois Bar Association, Member and Proctor of the American MENSA Society, died on Saturday. He is survived by his beloved wife Darlene, nee Shotkoski; his children, the late Maurice Dickholtz, Karon (Joe) Ordower, Andria (Robert) Witherell, David Dickholtz, P.J. Conklin, Maj. Christina (Lt. Col. Gordon) Moore, Sheralyn (John) Segura, and Carolyn Dickholtz; devoted grandfather of Daniel, Robert III, MacKenzie, Ashley, Heidi, Patrick, Kellien, April, Abigail and Nicholas; greatgrandfather of Griffen and Robert IV; fond brother of the late Arthur (Kathryn) Dickholtz, Dr. Marshall (Mary Ann) Dickholtz and Marian (Charles) Staff; revered uncle of 11. The legacy of this extraordinary man was that he left this world as the Patriarch of a family of five mothers and two fathers, seven college graduates, three musicians, seven great cooks, a retail manager, a food and beverage manager, an independent business owner, a military officer, two teachers, a designer, an OTR truck driver, a carpenter, a photographer, a barber, a bartender, 15 animal lovers, and 10 registered voters (of two different parties). Service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring for immediate family.
