Dave Chappelle isn’t dead yet, but Comedy Central is ready to treat him like he is.
The network, which recently announced it would make four new episodes of Chappelle’s show from sketches filmed before the comedian went MIA, was planning to hold a televised wake for Chappelle (left), New York magazine reported.
According to a magazine source familiar with the plans, Comedy Central wants other performers, including Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence, to pay tribute to Chappelle as a way to introduce the new sketches.
A Comedy Central spokesman told the magazine he had heard of the wake idea but had not heard specific names mentioned.
