Patricia K. Boyar, age 78, of LaGrange, an active person in her church and the community, died Dec. 19, 2005, at The Plymouth Place Senior Living Home. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary to her husband, Robert, a nuclear engineer, with all of her five children present. Beloved wife of Robert E. Boyar; devoted mother of Joan Ph.D. (Kim) Larsen, Jeffrey, Robert A. (Carol) and Ellen Boyar and Linda (Norman) Graziani; cherished grandmother of Marianne, Kristiana, Justin and Lucas. Patricia graduated in 1944 from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago and continued her education at the College of the University of Chicago. After receiving her degree in 1946, she entered the School of Business at the U. of C. and received her M.B.A. in 1949. Patricia worked at Montgomery Ward and A.B. Dick Company until her first child arrived. After four more children were born, she was able to travel extensively with her husband, and there are now 20 photo albums for their trips ranging from Russia, most of the European countries, South Africa, Turkey, New Zealand and Australia. During this traveling period, she was able to attend three universities to complete the requirements for a Teacher’s Certificate in Williamsburg, VA. She taught in the elementary grades in Hampton, VA, and in four school districts in the LaGrange area from 1975 to 2000. She has been active in the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange and in several community organizations since moving to LaGrange. She now has four grandchildren, three are on the East Coast of the United States and one in Denmark. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Interment Bronswood Cemetery.
