Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

We’ve all gotten bad holiday gifts from a lover. Fruitcakes. Ugly cable-knit sweaters. A kick out the door.

It’s never fun getting dumped around the holidays. It’s stressful enough without having to worry about filing a set of walking papers. You feel self-conscious going to Christmas parties alone. You feel like a loser with no one to kiss on New Year’s Eve.

If you’re one of those poor saps in a rocky relationship and you think she might cut you loose before the end of the month, here’s how to save face: Dump her first.

There’s nothing worse than buying her an awesome gift only to have her dump you on the 29th. Beat her to the punch, and that’s one less gift to buy.

Isn’t the theme for New Year’s “out with the old, in with the new”?

You should make it your resolution to rid yourself of all excess baggage. Play your cards right, and you’ll have all new baggage by Groundhog Day.
