The game plan

Puzzled as to why no one had opened a specialty food shop in any of the retail developments near their home, food industry veterans Terri and Anthony Pedone decided to do it themselves. The result: Lincolnshire Gourmet, a shop that offers on-site seating, full-service and drop-off catering and tastings of wine and fresh prepared foods. After 7 p.m. the shop is open for private dinner parties.

The bill of fare

Only a small portion of the daily menu is stocked in the display cases, so checking the menu in the store or online is important. Soups (six are offered daily), salads, sandwiches, spreads, sauces and entrees are made on-site. Desserts include brownies (such as lemon-white chocolate chip, $3.50 each) and ice cream. Gift baskets and an interesting array of wines, packaged foods and tableware are offered too.

Ringing in a new year

Carryout options include items that would serve New Year’s menus. About 20 artisanal cheeses are offered, such as Italian taleggio ($12.65 per pound) and Shropshire blue from England ($17.30 per pound). Sweet and savory spreads and sauces include honey-pecan-mascarpone and tomato-Parmesan pesto ($7.95 per 6-ounce container). For the main meal, items include citrus-infused smoked salmon ($20.95 per pound), rosemary-roasted potatoes ($5.95 per pound) and roasted turkey breast infused with rosemary and black pep-per ($9.95 per pound). The shop also will host a New Year’s Eve party with open bar, appetizers, desserts, Champagne toast and entertainment, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $125 per person including tax and tip.
